SUMMARY:Christmas Bird Count
DESCRIPTION:Red Tailed Hawk at Heritage Preserve\n\n\n\nThis December\, the National Audubon Society is organizing its 123rd Christmas Bird Count.  This is when volunteers conduct bird counts all across the country.  These counts take place from December 14\, 2022 to Wednesday\, January 5\, 2023.  Each count occurs within a 15 mile wide diameter circle.  The nearest one to us is the Princeton Circle\, although there are others.  The Princeton Circle includes some of Pennington and Hopewell. \n\n\n\nPlease visit: https://www.audubon.org/conservation/join-christmas-bird-count for more information. \n\n\n\nIf you live within the circle\, you can register to be a feeder counter if you would rather not go outside.  You can stay at home and report the birds that visit your feeder on count day.  You must register with the count compiler to participate\, email Brad Merritt if you want to help (balmerritt@aol.com)  Visit the National Audubon Society website for more details. This is a great way to help the Audubon Society gather information about bird species in our area and it is FREE to participate.

SUMMARY:The Outdoor Equity Alliance invites you to a Kwanzaa Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Kwanzaa is a secular\, non-religious\, holiday\, whose name translates from Swahili to “first fruits\,” referencing the holiday’s roots in traditional harvest festivals. Instead of centering on religious traditions\, Kwanzaa focuses on culture\, community\, and family. Kwanzaa is celebrated the 7 days from December 26 to January 1. \n\n\n\nThe OEA Celebration is on December 29th or Day 4. The Fourth Principle of Kwanzaa\, Ujamaa\, means ‘Cooperative Economics’ — “To build our own businesses\, control the economics of our own community\, and share in all its work and wealth.” \n\n\n\nTo learn more about Kwanzaa\, visit kwanzaa.net.
