SUMMARY:Family Kestrel Box Building Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Photo by FoHVOS Land Steward Gemma Milly\n\nThe American Kestrel\, a small and colorful falcon of grassland habitats\, is a threatened species in New Jersey. FoHVOS invites families to participate in our kestrel conservation program by attending a nest box building workshop. This program will provide families with a hands-on volunteer opportunity that will directly benefit a state-threatened species. \nAfter a brief presentation by FoHVOS Land Stewards Beth Craighead and Tyler Christensen\, participants will be guided through assembly of the nest boxes used by kestrels to raise their young. \nMaterials\, tools\, written instructions\, and verbal guidance will be provided. The finished boxes will be placed in kestrel habitat in March\, when kestrels begin looking for places to nest. Subsequent kestrel tracking information may be made available if your box becomes home to a family of kestrels! \nGrant funding provided by New Jersey Fish & Wildlife Endangered & Nongame Species Program’s Conserve Wildlife Matching Grant Program \n\nRegister
